Big cinema on fabric: PhotoFabrics realized 500 square meters of stage design for the musical „MAMMA MIA!“
For the new spectacular stage production of the hit musical „MAMMA MIA!“ at the Zürcher MAAG Hall, the Swiss theater producer Shake Company relied on the textile expertise of PhotoFabrics. In close collaboration, a 500-square-meter multifunctional stage set was created that, through the playful interplay of innovative material qualities, brings exclusive visual effects to the stage.

Under the project leadership of Marius Mauring, the Team PhotoFabrics undertook the ambitious large-scale project in a tight timeframe. To perfectly support Director Dominik Flaschka’s vision, reflex-free textiles were chosen that maintain a matte, aesthetic overall appearance despite strong floodlights. The absolutely light-proof material „Back black“ was used for the opaque frame cladding, the flowing drape fabric „Deko Silk“ over a length of 20 meters, and transparent „Flag“ fabrics and backlit „Deko“ fabrics for dynamic depth effects.

In addition to the targeted material selection, PhotoFabrics stood out for their comprehensive full-service approach. In intensive exchange with the Shake Company, each individual print file underwent a precise professional checkup regarding dimensions, colors, format, and resolution. This comprehensive quality check ensured an exclusive result that the Swiss entertainment scene can rely on with confidence.
