Lycra properties

The Lycra is very stretchy and resistant. Stretching between 500% and 700% is quite possible. The tear length of Lycra is between eight and fifteen kilometers. The textile fiber is characterized, among other things, by low moisture absorption and permanent shape retention. Lycra is soft, smooth and can be easily dyed. The fabric is not subject to static charge and is machine washable at 40 ° C without any problems.

Lycra application

Lycra is mainly used in the clothing industry. In use for especially swimwear, sportswear, socks and underwear
it ensures optimal wearing comfort in this spectrum due to the elastane content. However, Lycra is always mixed with other fibers - For example, with polyamide or polyester!
A high proportion of Lycra is often found in garments such as cycling shorts, leggings, tights, socks, med. or cosmetic stockings and swimwear.

Lycra composition

A Lycra fabric consists of a unique combination of elastic and stiff fiber units. This ensures an enormously high stretch behavior of up to 700%.
However, lycra fibers approved in Germany must contain at least 85% segmented polyurethane.
